Bonus Post: What Does the Author Believe?

Okay, now that we’ve dipped our toes into a variety of topics, you may be wondering what my beliefs in the supernatural are. Not to go all Mulder on you all, but it basically all boils down to wanting to believe. I have had more than my fair share of experiences that I can’t logically explain (mostly ghostly), though I have tried to find logic behind the happenings. Those are stories for another time, however.
Now, does that mean I believe in every account I read online? Absolutely not. While I believe it’s possible that ghosts and cryptids and aliens exist, I also believe that most of the alleged encounters can be explained away by the witness misinterpreting stimuli or embellishing typical stimuli (creaks, shuffling, etc).
I will say that I firmly believe that remnants of a person can remain on the earth – whether that be tied to a certain place or object, or be doomed to repeat a certain aspect of their life. I also believe that we are not alone in the universe. To me, believing that humans are the only intelligent life forms in the universe is narcissistic and ignorant. (And I, for one, will welcome our extraterrestrial overlords when they arrive. Just kidding…mostly.) I’m a bit shakier in my beliefs on the plausibility of cryptids.
So I guess what I’m trying to say here is that I’m a skeptical believer. I believe in the possibility of these phenomena, but do not believe in the validity of 90% of the encounters we read about.
